I hosted my very first event in August! This was a big accomplishment for me and I can say with confidence that it was a huge success. Jesse Kovacs, who may be recognized by his recent appearance on ABC's The Bachelorette, is a winemaker in Monterey, California. I had been fortunate enough to sample his Pinot Noir and Chardonnay earlier this summer. It was so delicious that not only did I buy a case, I arranged for him to come back to San Diego for this special event! He hosted a wine bar on the top of my friend's condominium complex. I decorated, (made sure the roof was sparkling with candles of course), had a plethora of munchies, good party music, and with out a doubt, a fun guest list. The special guest stars were 4 of the guys from the show. Needless to say, all of my single girlfriends were in heaven. Tim couldn't have been a more supportive husband and such a good sport. It was like Beatles mania to an extent. :) I hope this is the beginning of many more events in the future. It will be a good one to have on file that's for certain!

Nana's 90th Birthday Surprise

Surprising Nana is not the easiest task in the world. This woman knows all! We all managed somehow to pull the wool over her eyes and plan a few surprises. Papa did a great job organizing her party and many times I almost blew it... I found that just avoiding calling her all together was my best bet. I wanted to tell her badly that I booked a plane ticket to come see her. For 6 months I had to pretend that I didn't. It didn't help that everytime we spoke she would ask when I was coming to Connecticut. I'm glad I withheld because the look on her face when she saw Tim and me was priceless. It touched my heart to see the unexpected happiness fill her eyes. I will never ever forget it.

Our visit was short however, it was filled with the best thing in the entire world. Family Love. Lots and lots of L-O-V-E! Marjorie Hermes Thompson, here is to YOU! You still got it goin' on at 90... what an inspiration!

Sailing Away

Marshall Robinson spent his 70th birthday sailing in San Diego! He was here on a business trip and Tim and I were fortunate enough to be invited to come along on his special birthday voyage. Sarah and Danny flew in for the weekend and rented a 36' sail boat. The morning started out with a nice breakfast and mimosas onboard and then afterwards we ventured out on a 5 hour cruise on the San Diego Bay. What a way to celebrate such a milestone.. We were so pleased to be a part of it!

Day at the pool with a book in one hand and a cocktail in the other.

Fantastic Vegas show.

Day of shopping and gambling (and a gigantic margarita).

Delicious dinner at a 5 star restaraunt with friends.

VIP treatment at an exclusive dance club.

We had the best time. It will be a trip we could never forget! Many thanks to our friend Michael who is the VP of Operations. He hooked us up BIG TIME!!

Cupcakes in Beverly Hills

We had our first taste of heaven this past Sunday. We indulged in the delicious and famous, "Sprinkles Cupcakes". The peanut butter and chocolate cupcake was ridiculous! They even made a special batch for the doggies. YUMMO!

Kids at Heart

We joined the Hyatts on an adventure at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California on Saturday. My face still hurts from all the laughing we did on this trip. We love you Corinna and Ryan. Thanks for another fun memory!

First day of Summer

Tim and I celebrated the first day of summer in our backyard with our dogs, Dakota and Maggie! We love our girls!

Happy Anniversary Augie and Katherine

Tim and I were full of surprises this past weekend as we celebrated his parent's 40 years of marriage... Augie and (especially) Katherine, tried very hard to get information out of us but our lips were sealed.

The weekend began Friday, with a night in "Spain". We took them to a Flamenco dinner show at Cafe Sevilla. We enjoyed paella and wine while we watched the dancers stomp their feet to Spanish music. It was loud and exciting!

We hope to be this happy and in love when we celebrate our 40th! They set a beautiful example of true love...

Saturday morning we gave them 3 hints.

1) We are going out for lunch at noon.

2) Dress for the beach.

3) Pack up all of your things because you are not coming back to our house!

Their journey began with blindfolds! Augie was determined to figure out what direction we were going in so we pulled into a parking lot and drove around in circles in an effort confuse him! It didn't work! We were impressed. He's like a human compass!

Surprise! A night at the historic Hotel Del in Coronado. :) We met up with their long time friends, The Jacksons, for a lovely lunch. Lots of laughs as always!

Next Surprise... Tim arranged to have his boat docked at the marina across the street! We went on a 3 hour adventure listening to the top hits from 1969, sipping bubbly, and dancing!

Later that night we docked in front of Peohe's for dinner. It was not only delicious but check out the view!

Sunday we listened to Augie tell their love story over a long lunch at The Del. It was a beautiful end to an amazing weekend celebrating their 40 years of love!! xoxo

A Love Letter

I wanted to begin this online journey of our life with a message to my husband.

My Dearest Tim,

You came into my life July 4th, 2004, and since the day I met you, my heart has never been the same. I had no idea that I could even feel this way about anything. I know that I am truly blessed to be able to experience this love in my lifetime and I thank God every day. You are the most patient, kind, and caring person I know. When life is upside down you seem to know just how to flip it back around and I thank you for that. Your constant positive frame of mind and incredible zest for life has helped me through some really difficult trials and tribulations. I love our time together whether it’s walking the dogs, cruising the Mediterranean, or going over bills. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Please carry in your heart my love and appreciation for you always. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love you more than words could ever express!
